Cryogenic Testing

More and more critical components are being tested at lower temperatures because of the hostile environments in which they are expected to work. Components may be commissioned in extremely diverse conditions, and these can range from the North Sea to Ice Cap conditions.

Vaseco’s facility offers temperature testing of components down to -196°C, and ranging from ½” to 36”, and at pressure ratings from ANSI Class 150 to API 15,000.

Typical Components: Ball, Gate, Globe, Check, Choke, Butterfly Valves and Actuators.

Components are enclosed in an insulated tank and immersed in liquid nitrogen, with 100% Helium as the search gas. Monitoring for Seat Leakage, Temperature and Pressurisation is carried out by Vaseco's unique ETS remote computer systems.

The emission testing is carried out by a Helium Mass Spectrometer, and emissions data is recorded. This method of testing can detect < 5ppm of the trace gas.
